Radstock Schools - Bath

As part of a rationalisation of primary education in Radstock, B&NES Council procured two new primary schools to replace four existing schools. Auxilium provided the complete engineering design for the two schools under a design and construct partnering contract, the first to be awarded by the Council.

The schools are designed to make a positive educational link with their environments, one located on a hill and one in a river valley. The buildings were largely prefabricated using a common, modular system of timber framing for programme efficiency and environmental sustainability. Nevertheless each has a distinctly individual character due to careful consideration of the layout and links to the external environment.
