HMP Winchester – Kitchen Facility

The project consisted of the demolition of the existing ancillary buildings and construction of a new 830m² modern kitchen.

The project was the second Ministry of Justice project to use Building Information Modelling (BIM) and formed a test bed project for the devlopment of the MOJ’s BIM strategy.  Auxilium undertiook the BIM Level 2 modelling on behalf of SPIE Matthew Hall who had never undertaken a project with a BIM requirement.  We successfully took the M&E services model through the various stages to data drop 4 which is broadly consistent with that expected at RIBA Stage K.

Use of BIM on the project resulted in far fewer on site clashes, better planning and programming of the works, less wastage and assisted with attaining savings expected from the Ministry of Justice’s ‘Lean Programming’.

Upon completion of the project we were commended by the client and project manager for our diligence and commitment throughout the delivery of the project.
