Hafa Y Coed – Llandough AMHU

A state-of-the-art mental health unit which aims to give patients a “modern, therapeutic and recovery-focused environment” serving South Wales.

Hafan y Coed, which is based at the University Hospital Llandough site, has been described as a first-class facility which will help create a calm and relaxed atmosphere for patients.

The new hospital includes access to a variety of “therapeutic spaces” including garden areas, gym facilities, outdoor fitness equipment, and a multi-use games area to enhance recovery for patients during their stay.

Auxilium worked closely with the main contractor, CHt and the other members of the design team to provide a fully coordinated M&E services Building Information Model.

This was then further developed to provide offsite prefabrication information to allow CHt to prefabricate approximately 80% of the services at their manufacturing facility. This included corridor distribution modules, plant skids and fully constructed plant rooms. Auxilium successfully produced DfMA drawings for the largest plant rooms undertaken by CHt to date. The project was delivered ahead of schedule and within budget.
